WHY THE MOI?
Full orchestra repertoire often leaves a wide gap between technically demanding masterworks and accessible music that sacrifices artistic substance for simplicity.
The Modern Orchestra Initiative fills that space. These works use contemporary harmony, rhythm, color, and orchestration while remaining playable, enjoyable, and rewarding for musicians and audiences.
Contemporary orchestral music can sound fresh without being alienating, offer depth without excessive complexity, and challenge musicians without fighting the instruments. These works give ensembles and audiences a welcoming way into the music of today without simplifying away what makes that music meaningful.
