His works appear on multiple commercial albums, and performances of his first three chamber works were each recognized as national finalists for the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music.

Recent consortium projects have brought together performers from around the world, including a 49-member clarinet consortium ranging from students to university faculty and professional musicians.

Known for writing music that balances artistic depth with strong performer connection, Poelking’s work is driven by collaboration and the creation of meaningful experiences for both musicians and audiences.

LEAD CONSORTIUM MEMBERS

Assembly Quartet

The Assembly Quartet is a professional chamber music ensemble whose mission is to promote music education and expand the enjoyment of music for people of all ages. Originally formed in 2003 by graduate students at the University of South Carolina, the Quartet’s principal objective was, and remains, to engage with audiences in public schools and communities, working with students and audiences that often have limited experience with chamber music or with the music of our time. Their current Pedagogy Commission Project will result in over 100 minutes of new music
