Kevin Poelking’s chamber music has been performed internationally, commercially recorded, and featured at festivals and conferences around the world. His works appear on multiple commercial albums, and performances of his first three chamber works were each recognized as national finalists for the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music.
Recent consortium projects have brought together performers from around the world, including a 49-member clarinet consortium ranging from students to university faculty and professional musicians.
Known for writing music that balances artistic depth with strong performer connection, Poelking’s work is driven by collaboration and the creation of meaningful experiences for both musicians and audiences.

LEAD CONSORTIUM MEMBERS
Assembly Quartet
The Assembly Quartet is a professional chamber ensemble dedicated to music education, community engagement, and expanding the saxophone quartet repertoire. Formed in 2003 by graduate students at the University of South Carolina, the Quartet continues to perform, teach, and collaborate in schools and communities across the country, often reaching audiences with limited experience in chamber music or the music of our time.
Their long-term Pedagogy Project is creating new, artistically meaningful saxophone quartet works for driven high school and early collegiate musicians, with the first volume released on Mark Custom and published by Just A Theory Press. Assembly has commissioned and premiered works by composers including Katahj Copley, Carlos Simon, Marilyn Shrude, David Maslanka, Marc Mellits, and Benjamin Dean Taylor.
